Smile Fast

Smile Fast composite bonding in Crewe

Smile Fast is composite bonding for your front teeth, planned so you see the result before anything is fitted. Your new smile is designed first, then tried in your mouth as a temporary trial smile.

It starts with an assessment, £99.99 if you are new to the practice or £59.99 if you already come to us. Your dentist will tell you what bonding can change for your teeth and what it would cost.

What it is

Composite bonding, planned in advance

Smile Fast uses the same tooth-coloured composite as ordinary bonding. The difference is the planning.

You see it before it is fitted. Your new smile is designed and tried in your mouth first, so you know what you are getting before any composite bonding goes on.

The front teeth are planned together. Rather than repairing one tooth at a time, the teeth that show when you smile are designed as a set, so their shape and colour match.

Your own teeth stay. The composite is added to the surface of your teeth, usually with little or no drilling.

Compared with porcelain veneers

  • Composite is added to your teeth, while veneers need a thin layer of enamel removed
  • Porcelain holds its colour for longer
  • Composite can stain and chip over time, though small repairs are usually quick

Who it suits

Front teeth it can help with

Smile Fast suits you if you would like to change the shape, length or colour of several front teeth at once.

  • Worn or short teeth

Edges worn down by grinding or acid erosion can be built back up to a natural length.

  • Small or spaced teeth

Teeth that look small, or have gaps between them, can be widened with composite, without braces.

  • Chips and uneven edges

Chipped corners and edges that do not line up can be rebuilt so the teeth match.

  • Dull or discoloured teeth

Composite covers the front of each tooth, so it can change the colour as well as the shape.

Smile Fast works best on healthy front teeth that are already reasonably well aligned. Badly crowded teeth are usually straightened first, and any decay or gum problems are treated before cosmetic work. Your dentist will check it suits you at the assessment, and results vary from person to person.

The steps

How Smile Fast works

You see and approve your new smile before the composite goes on.

  1. Your assessment

Your dentist checks your teeth and gums, talks through what you would like to change, and tells you if another treatment would suit you better.

  2. Designing your smile

Photographs and a digital scan or impressions of your teeth are used to design the new shape. You see an image of the design and can ask for changes.

  3. The trial smile

A temporary copy of the design is placed over your teeth, so you can see how it looks on you. Small adjustments can be made at this stage.

  4. Fitting the bonding

Your dentist builds up the composite in one appointment, guided by the approved design, then shapes and polishes it. Most people go straight back to their day.

No injection in many cases. If nothing is being drilled and your teeth are not sensitive, bonding can often be done without local anaesthetic. If you would rather be numbed anyway, just say.

Common questions

Smile Fast questions

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many teeth are involved, so your dentist gives you a price after your assessment. Treatment costing £350 or more may be eligible for finance arranged with Chrysalis Finance. Finance is subject to status and affordability.

See our assessment fees. How finance works.

What if I do not like the trial smile?

Then the design is changed, or you stop there. The trial smile is temporary and comes off, so nothing is fitted until you are happy with the design.

How long does it last?

Several years is normal, as with any composite bonding. It depends mostly on your bite and your habits. Expect a polish at hygiene visits and an occasional small repair.

Should I whiten my teeth first?

If you would like your teeth lighter, yes. Composite does not lighten with whitening, so the shade is matched after whitening rather than before.

Can it be changed later?

Yes. Composite can be added to, reshaped or repaired. Because little or nothing is taken off your teeth, it can usually be removed as well, though removal can affect the tooth surface, so ask your dentist what it would involve.

Can I have just one tooth done?

Smile Fast is meant for planning several front teeth together. For a single chipped or worn tooth, ordinary composite bonding is usually the simpler choice.
